This is the big damn deal that kicked off my life as a full-time artist. Before I won this prize I was splitting my time between being an engineer for HP and being an artist. Winning the Grand Prize changed my life, and I am very proud of this particular award.

I had just been invited to join the American Academy of Women
Artists as a Signature Member before the AAWA annual exhibition took
place. I sent several pieces to the show in Tucson, and I was surprised and delighted when I got to the show to find "Award of Merit" next to this piece. The awards jurying was done by R.S. Riddick, CAA, and George Strickland - two very notable artists, making the award very meaningful for me. |
