Transience
oil on canvas mounted on panel, 22 x 28

I am really, really pleased with this piece. The landscape comes from a bit of reference grabbed when I was going down the Snake River south of Jackson Hole in a drift boat, and somehow the colors and textures of the riverbank dictated a fox coming (cautiously) to drink. Getting all the dry, heavy, sharp stone surfaces right, and playing off the wet reflections and moss, was thoroughly satisfying. I enjoyed doing the painting and I still like it now.
