Note to the Cowgirl Up! committee: I have found that cougar scratchboards do well throughout the U.S., and since I love using them as subject matter, I'm including several here. I'm also rather fond of ropers, since their lassos can make such wonderful patterns and arabesques, and my 'ropeslingers' are selling well in my western US galleries.
As can be seen from my images, animals (especially horses) are my deep and abiding artistic inspirations. I spend plenty of time in the field every year getting my reference material, whether in the wilds of Yellowstone or in the dust of a rodeo arena. I'm a horse enthusiast from as far back as I can remember; I spent years training and competing in dressage and eventing. Hands-on grooming and riding are invaluable for informing my artistic knowledge of horses, and life sketching of many different species (including my own dogs) gives me a sense of gesture, line, muscle and bone that helps me in all my animal art.
And finally, I have wanted to be part of the show for years, and would be honored to be included in the 2018 event. Thank you for taking the time to consider my work!
